Hello, Prospective Pratt Parents!

Want to talk to a current Pratt parent?
If you want to talk to a real, live Pratt parent, a number have volunteered to field questions from other prospective parents. You can find a list on our Contact page.
Not in the Pratt busing area but still interested in Pratt?
Because of the unique environment Pratt has to offer, a large number of our families come from outside the immediate Pratt busing area. Students from outside the busing area are still welcome to attend Pratt; you simply have to provide your own transportation. However, if you’re interested in joining a carpool from Seward, Longfellow or another neighborhood, please let us know. Contact Jakki Kydd-Fidelman by telephone at 612-668-1107 or by email.

Update on Pratt Status — September 29, 2009
As you no doubt have learned, on Tuesday night the MPS Board voted 7–0 to reject the recommendation of its staff to close Pratt Community School. This was accomplished through very substantial and ethical advocacy by the broad Pratt community, with a critical role played by Somali leadership and strong support from social service agencies including East Side Neighborhood Services and the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority. The Board again was persuaded by the level of community integration and support, Pratt’s continuing academic success, the community’s desire for a school of genuine ethnic and socioeconomic diversity, and our willingness to work at it.
This moment of unanimous Board support is our window of opportunity not just to make Pratt stronger, but to even more effectively and broadly weave Pratt within a network of community institutions that operates to support our at-risk and immigrant families and strengthen our civic bonds. With good fortune, we will bring forward our energy and creativity for an effort that can serve this part of town for some time to come.
Thank you to everyone who has played a role in sustaining us to this point. Stay tuned!
